Elena Kalyuzhnaya is a photographer based in Hamburg, Germany. Originally from small town on South of Russia, Elena appreciate authentity of rural area and its traditions: how we interact with a community and nature, how traditions shape us and how we change them.
Human rights and place in a society, social and political issues, PTSD emotions and life in post-wars and problematic regions are main topics of her work. Elena as well is a social, decolonization activist.
The methods of work that she uses are lens-based, as well as interviews and research. Elena works with documentary and archive photography, as well as performative practices. Handcrafted bookmaking is one of her main teqnique of realization a project.
